About Abdullah

I am a qualified teacher and Mechanical Engineering graduate from Queen Mary University of London, with over ten years of experience in tutoring, mentoring and supporting young people academically. I specialise in Mathematics and Physics, teaching students from primary school through to GCSE and A Level, and I have extensive experience adapting lessons to suit different abilities, learning styles and academic goals. Alongside mainstream school support, I have worked with families preparing their children for competitive entrance examinations, including the 7+, 8+, 11+ and 13+. My experience covers Mathematics, English, Science, verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and exam technique, with a strong focus on building confidence, strengthening core knowledge and developing independent problem-solving skills. I also work closely with parents to identify areas for improvement, set realistic targets and provide clear feedback on progress. My background in Mechanical Engineering gives me a strong analytical and problem-solving approach, while my teacher training has developed my ability to explain difficult concepts clearly, break learning into manageable steps and create lessons that are both structured and engaging. I aim to build a positive rapport with every student so that they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and challenging themselves. Outside of teaching, I enjoy judo, hiking, dining out, travelling and reading. I believe these interests help me bring a well-rounded and personable approach to tutoring, and I particularly enjoy getting to know students' interests so I can make lessons more relatable and engaging.
