Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Adeyemi Academy ("the Service") operated by Adeyemi Academy Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or booking a lesson, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
• Learners under 18 require parent or guardian consent.
• Tutors must be at least 18 and complete our verification process.

3. The marketplace

Adeyemi Academy is a marketplace connecting learners with independent tutors. We are not the direct provider of tutoring services — each tutor is an independent contractor.

4. Bookings & Payments

• You agree to pay the hourly rate set by the tutor at the time of booking.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We are not responsible for Stripe outages.
• Your first 30 minutes with any new tutor is free.
• Cancel or reschedule up to 2 hours before the session start with no penalty.
• Late cancellations (<2 hours) may be charged in full.

5. User conduct

You agree not to:

• Harass, abuse, threaten or discriminate against any other user.
• Share inappropriate content in chats or sessions.
• Circumvent the platform to arrange payments outside Adeyemi Academy.
• Record or distribute session content without all participants' consent.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your qualifications.

Violations may result in account suspension, permanent ban, and referral to authorities where applicable.

6. Report & block

You can report or block any user directly from any chat. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours by our moderation team.

7. Refunds

If your first paid session (after your free diagnostic) is unsatisfactory, contact us within 24 hours for a full refund. Beyond that, refunds are at our discretion and typically require evidence of a service failure.

8. Refer & Earn programme

Our referral programme rewards students who introduce new paying students to Adeyemi Academy. Participation in the programme means you accept the following rules in full. We may update, pause or discontinue the programme at any time; any pending but not-yet- unlocked rewards at that point will be honoured for 90 days following the change.

8.1 Who can participate

• Only accounts with the Student role can refer other students or earn referral rewards. Tutor accounts cannot participate.
• A referral code used by a Tutor at signup will be silently ignored; no bonus will be issued to either party.
• You may not refer yourself. Attempts to refer accounts you also control (same payment method, device, phone number or household IP in short succession) will be flagged and may result in forfeiture of all pending and earned rewards.

8.2 Welcome bonus (new student)

• A new student who enters a valid referral code at signup is promiseda £10 welcome bonus. This bonus is held in a pending state until the conditions below are met.
• The welcome bonus unlocks and becomes spendable only after the referee completes £400 of cumulative paid lessons on their own account — defined as the sum of all bookings with status “completed” and an amount greater than £0. Free 30-minute diagnostic lessons do not count toward this threshold.
• Cancelled, refunded or disputed lessons do not count as completed paid lessons. Lessons paid for using any form of credit (including the welcome bonus or any promotional discount) do not count toward the £400 threshold either.
• Only one welcome bonus is granted per student, regardless of how many codes are entered.
• Welcome bonuses are credited as marketplace credit, usable only on lesson bookings via Adeyemi Academy. They have no cash value and cannot be withdrawn.

8.3 Referrer reward (person who shared the code)

• The referrer earns a £10 reward only when both parties have independently completed £400 or more of cumulative paid lessons on their own accounts (sum of all completed lessons with amount > £0). This double-sided bar is intentional — it makes self-referral and account-duplication farms economically pointless, so only genuine, high-commitment customers trigger a payout.
• If the referee crosses £400 first, the referrer reward is held pending until the referrer themselves also crosses £400 (and vice-versa). The bonus is credited automatically to the eligible party's marketplace credit balance the moment the second party clears the bar.
• Free trials, cancelled lessons, refunded lessons and lessons paid for using any form of credit (including the welcome bonus) do not count toward either party's £400 threshold.
• The referrer reward is one-off per referee. Referrer rewards have no cash value, cannot be withdrawn, and expire 24 months after being earned if unused.

8.4 Fair-use & anti-abuse

• We operate automated checks on signup IP, device fingerprint and payment method to detect self-referral and account-farming attempts. Where ≥ 2 accounts have signed up from the same IP using the same referrer code within a 30-day window, further referrals from that IP will be silently dropped (no bonus to either party).
• Rewards obtained through fraudulent means — including fake accounts, incentivised downloads, chargebacks, or any form of collusion — will be revoked and may result in account suspension.
• We reserve the right to withhold, delay or reverse any referral reward where we reasonably believe the programme has been abused.

8.5 Credit usage

• Credit (welcome bonus + referrer rewards) is applied automatically to the next qualifying booking, lowering the amount you pay by card.
• Credit cannot be transferred to another account, exchanged for cash, or applied to tutor payouts.
• If an account is deleted or closed, any remaining credit is forfeited and cannot be reinstated.

9. Intellectual property

Session recordings, whiteboards and materials belong to the participants of that session. Adeyemi Academy platform code, brand and content belongs to Adeyemi Academy Ltd.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you shall not exceed the fees you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We do not exclude liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings. We may suspend or terminate your account for material breach of these Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
